Ileo-what?!  Read on, it may seem boring, but this is a good one to store away for future reference and for good party conversations.

Your Ileocecal Valve is located in your digestive system. It is a small valve on the right side of your pelvis that connects your ileum to your cecum or rather your small intestine to your colon. The valve functions as a one way doorway that opens and closes to let matter from your small intestine into your colon for further processing. The valve is supposed to open and close on demand but sometimes it gets stuck open, stuck closed or is just spastic. When it gets stuck in the open position it allows toxic matter from the colon to get washed back up into the small intestine where it gets into your blood. The symptoms of toxicity are immediate.  When it is stuck closed you are not able to properly eliminate waste. In either situation it is very toxic and causes a lot of awful symptoms. The funny thing is that it is so common and most medical doctors do not think of it when it comes to their patients with general malaise symptoms and no distinguishable diagnosis.

Some symptoms that can be caused by your valve stuck in the open position:

  • Hangover– yes too much alcohol can cause your valve to stay open and that is part of why you are so nauseous and achy when you have a hangover.
  • Flu-like feelings
  • Diarrhea
  • Achy muscles
  • Right side shoulder pain
  • Irritability
  • Dark circles under eyes
  • Cramps headaches
  • Nausea
  • Fever
  • Blurred vision
  • Low back pain
  • Bloating
When it is stuck closed:
  • Constipation
  • Over-Attachment, inability to get over things appropriately

The good news is that there are easy ways to fix this issue. The following items usually work best in conjunction with each other. Once the valve has started acting up, it can take a while to get it to stop reacting. Just be diligent. If you ever feel nauseous after eating think about your ileocecal valve.

  1. Massage the valve open or closed. Lie on your back and pull your knees up with your feet flat on the ground. Find your hip and your belly button. In the middle and about 2.5 inches down is where the valve is located. Press firmly and slowly down until you feel tenderness or what feels like a golf ball under a blanket. Most people will have tenderness in this area. Massage in a clockwise circle for about 60 seconds. It should correct and your symptoms should mostly diminish.
  2. Order the homeopathic remedy ICV Clenz from King Bio Homeopathic. Follow the acute directions in which you take three sprays every 10 minutes for the first hour and then slowly ramp down until symptoms are gone.
  3. Buy a pinworm eliminator with the ingredient Pyrantal Pamoate in it. Most people have pinworms or round worms and don’t even know it. They can set up shop right at the entrance of your IC valve and cause all kinds of symptoms. I would by this and take it once a year just to be safe. Make sure to give it to the whole family because disgustingly enough, pinworms and round worms are easily passed to one another! Buy it HERE
  4. Make sure your psoas muscles are stretched out properly. Here is a link that will explain how to properly do that. http://www.bandhayoga.com/keys_psoas.html. Your psoas are long, deeply situated muscles that attach to your lumbar spine. The nerve that connects to your ileocecal valve is found in the L1 region of your spine and the psoas can pull on this area and affect the nerve supply.
  5. Chiropractic adjustment.
There is a lot more to this syndrome, so if you feel like you have more questions about your symptoms email me.

yours in good health,

SOOO SALTY!

Yum salt! Who doesn’t love salt? I mean it makes everything taste so much better. Well good news to all of you salt lovers or salt addicts (you know who you are) you can enjoy your salt guilt free.
Salt that you mostly see in the grocery store and at restaurants is iodized, refined table salt. This salt has been refined and processed so that it is nice and pretty and comes out of the shaker easily. The essential minerals have been removed, iodine has been added and to make it even prettier, sometimes sugar is added and aluminum is usually added (excess aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease) . It is heated to over 1200 degrees and is so chemically altered that it can cause a myriad of health problems. It dehydrates you and wreaks havoc on your health. You do need sodium for proper function of cells. You have a sodium potassium pump within every cell and if the proper levels of sodium and potassium are not there, the osmosis function is disrupted. In an isotonic cell environment (a proper balance of salt and water) the cell neither gains or loses water. It is ideal. If you drink too much water without minerals (including sodium) your cells will expand (bloating) and become hypotonic. The water cannot permeate properly without enough sodium. If you have too much sodium it is called hypertonic and then the cell actually loses water and shrivels up. So for those of you who drink tons of water and feel bloated, that is why. You need some minerals to get the water in and out of your cells.
Why did we ruin our source of healthy minerals?
By making salt lifeless, it has a very long shelf life. It will literally last forever
  “Looks “prettier”
If it’s taken from a polluted area, it will remove pollutants
Iodine is added to prevent swelling of thyroid (goiter) however there is not even close to enough iodine in salt to even affect the thyroid and you can get iodine from other sources.

Healthy natural unrefined salts contain no toxins and over 84 minerals and elements necessary for your optimal health. Unrefined Sea Salt can even be used to make an electrolyte drink like Gatorade. We call that “poor man’s” Gatorade.
Some health benefits of real unrefined Sea Salt:
• Facilitates digestion and assimilation of vitamins and minerals in foods
 Regulates metabolism
 Regulates Blood Pressure
  Necessary for proper muscle function
  Necessary for proper nerve function
   Hydrating
   Makes food taste better!
It is good to try salts from different areas of the world to get different mineral exposure. Some brands I like:
Real Salt  Very inexpensive
As you can see in the picture above, I just keep some salt out in a little bowl that I can just pinch from while I’m cooking. Cheers to flavored food!

I LOVE this soap!!! It is creamy, hydrating, smells like heaven (if you love coconut papaya smell) and is non toxic. It contains papaya enzymes  which are supposed to exfoliate dead skin. The shea butter and coconut oil moisturize your skin, after I use it my skin feels so soft and smells really good. It is very concentrated, so you don’t need that much and it will last a long time.
